Working principle of cotton seed puffing machine
After softening and tempering, the material is fed into the extrusion and puffing machine through a variable frequency speed control feeder. The material is pushed forward by a rotating variable pitch hinge while being blocked and stirred by a shear pin. Under direct steam injection, the material undergoes intense friction, kneading, and extrusion with the cylinder wall, resulting in high temperature and high pressure. The protein is moderately denatured, the cell wall is fully damaged, and the oil spreads to the surface of the material; At the same time, most free gossypol combines with proteins, phospholipids, sugars, etc. in cottonseed to form bound gossypol. The extruded material is squeezed out of the mold hole of the expansion cylinder, and suddenly depressurized and released, causing the free water in the material to suddenly evaporate, resulting in an explosion phenomenon. The expanded material exhibits a certain hardness and porous granular structure, with a moisture content ranging from 13% to 15%.
Advantages of Cotton Seed Expansion Processing Technology
(1) Improve oil quality and reduce refining costs. The residual oil in the extruded cottonseed meal ranges from 0.4% to 0.6%, which is equivalent to the residual oil in the pre pressed and extracted cottonseed meal. The color of the cottonseed oil obtained after expansion and extraction is clear, and the refining rate of the crude oil reaches 88% (85% of the crude oil refined by pre pressing and extraction).
(2) Significantly improve meal quality and increase economic benefits. From practical experience, it can be seen that the higher the content of free gossypol, the poorer the protein content of cottonseed meal, indicating a lower crude protein content and lower utilization in livestock and poultry. However, after the expansion treatment of cottonseed, the quality of the expanded cottonseed meal is significantly improved, and the amino acid content is 3 percentage points higher than that of the pre pressed extract meal. The free gossypol content in the meal is significantly reduced, and detoxification treatment is no longer necessary. The sales price of the expanded meal has a significant advantage.
